چکیده

Abstract Morphological abnormalities in crustaceans have been registered and several are attributed to pollution others anthropogenic activities. This study reports for the first time a temporal record of amount variety morphological Acartia lilljeborgii, an impacted neotropical estuary. The specimens were obtained from Suape port area, Northeast Brazil, between May 2009 September 2010 using 300 µm plankton net. Seven types observed one terminal spines prosome, but no variation was found our study. deformities 85.7% samples they up 10% individuals (3.2 ± 2.9%). proportion females with greater than males, opposite most previous reports. Due its high distribution abundance part Atlantic coastal A. lilljeborgii has potential be used as bioindicator environmental conditions, although reasons abnormality occurrences should accurately investigated.

A new species of Acartia (Copepoda, Calanoida) from the Yellow Sea

A new species (Acartia hongi) of Acartia (family Acartiidae) predominating in the Korean coastal waters of the Yellow Sea is described. This species closely resembles Acartia bifilosa, from which it can be easily distinguished by the co-occurrence of the following morphological characters: the absence of rostral filaments in both genders; the terminal spine on the female fifth leg toothed only ...

Morphological and genetic differentiation of heteromorphy in Labidocera rotunda (Copepoda, Calanoida, Pontellidae).

The pontellid calanoid Labidocera rotunda Mori, 1929 is relatively widespread in the inshore surface waters of East Asia. In this study, some heteromorphic specimens have been observed with extreme morphological discrepancies in the female, including the genital double-somite, the second urosomite, the caudal rami, and the fifth leg. To evaluate the validity of species assignment of the morphol...

A new species of Pseudodiaptomus (Crustacea, Copepoda, Calanoida, Pseudodiaptomidae) from the Prasae River Estuary, Gulf of Thailand

A new species of the calanoid copepod genus Pseudodiaptomus was collected from the Prasae River Estuary, Rayong Province, on the eastern coast of the Gulf of Thailand. This species is definitely assigned to the lobus species group sensu Walter (1986a). The female of the new species differs from other congeners in the elongate genital double-somite with a blunt process ventrally and the second u...

Acrocalanus gracilis (Copepoda: Calanoida) development and production in the Timor Sea

We investigated the juvenile development of the calanoid copepod Acrocalanus gracilis in the Timor Sea. The development was characterized by the calculation of stage-specific duration, median development time, moulting period duration, moult and growth rates. The morphometry of the experimental and wild populations were compared. Food concentrations in the experiment were lower than those in th...
